About SevenoaksFoodie

Kent is a glorious county with many farmers and specialist food producers making great things, so to shop too much in supermarkets just feels wrong! The aim of Sevenoaks Foodie is to get out into the local food community: to explore what’s good and where to buy it.

The county hosts 50 farmers’ markets. I’ll visit those on our doorstep (and try not to spend all my money), I’ll showcase some local food producers, explore some local cafes, and suggest some recipes.

Which leads us onto cooking… I’m putting meals on the table for a six year old who is suspicious of anything new and a husband who doesn’t eat fish, eggs, or sprouts. Happily, our one year old is less fussy. While I will still be buying Cheerios and plastic cheddar to keep the show on the road, I will also aim to:

  • spend more money on local food
  • spend less in the supermarket
  • cook more from scratch
  • throw less food away

Most importantly, I mustn’t get upset if my family doesn’t like the food I prepare. It’s hard not to take it personally, though, isn’t it? I would love to hear your tips on this and any of the above, so please meet me on
