To my chrysalis

My dear old friend,

You have seen me through so much over these past years.

We’ve celebrated new opportunities.

We’ve mourned lost ones.

We’ve worked together so well.

You changed me. Not just financially, but to my core.

Before you came around, I waited for permission.

I wanted someone to tell me I was ready.

I waited to be anointed to do big things.

You showed me that was absurd.

You taught me that, if I wanted something, I had to roll up my sleeves and go after it.

But I had to first be clear about what I wanted.

I learned so many skills from you.

Without you, I would be scared to try new things. Now I crave them.

You converted fear into adventure.

You showed me how to have courage when confidence was nowhere to be found.

Thank you for being my companion through so many hard times. You were the constant when everything else was shifting.

Thank you for bringing me so many incredible mentors. You’ve given me the most powerful education.

It’s time for us to part ways, but you will always be a part of me.

It’s time for me to take what you taught me and help people in ways that I can’t do here with you.

Our time together is complete.

I was a caterpillar. You’ve been my chrysalis. Without you, I wouldn’t be here, exercising my wings, preparing to fly. You helped me get here.

Thank you. I love you.
