Monsters or a Mirror

What is the status quo, what do we value, where are our ethical opinions based? What defines us, and where do our opinions end and a person begin? What makes each person unique? Does the camp we claim determine our actions, or are we simply creatures of our environment? Are our values passed on from generation to generation like DNA, or are we all brought into this world with our own preconceived ideas and opinions? When we speak “our mind” are we revealing what matters to us, or rather the opinions voiced by the group we belong to?
Should your opinion place you on a side, should your stance make you a friend or foe. Do we project how we should act so we don’t become what we fear? Where does that fear come from? Do we see a bit of ourselves in what we’re fighting, are we truly fighting against “them”… or the part of us that is like them? Are we fighting monsters or a mirror?
How do we truly move past this, how do we know it’s behind us? When it’s so far behind us we can’t see it, or do we just never look back in order not to see what we know is there? What/ who is chasing us? It frightens a few and bothers others, however some have been left so far behind they are no longer able to see what direction the group is heading. How fast can many travel without losing a few? Is distance traveled more important than how many follow? How is forward progress pressured, by how far few have made it, or by the progress of many?
Which will create societies, communities, and culture that we want to be part of? Is our strength in what we believe in, or how we’re able to see things differently? People of different heights have different views, how do we determine who is right? Are we able to see everything if we only look in one direction? Where do the truths lay, in front of us where they’re visible, or around us waiting to be found.
How do we find those truths, are we created as a blank canvas that must we be taught everything? Or, are we born with all the knowledge to become the person we are meant to be…or perhaps we are a little of both. Should we take the beliefs of a few and them become the values of many…however a dictionary with one definition isn’t very useful.
Mirrors can show us nothing but what we intend to see. What do you see?
