Massage Business & Marketing Coaching: 4 Tips On How To Choose A Business Coach

Hello All!

It’s no secret that I’ve pushed all in this year to build my coaching practice. In fact I’ve set a crazy goal of providing 300 massage therapists with a free 30 min consult at no charge & no strings attached.

To date I’ve done 23 consults & I’m seeing a very disturbing trend. People are telling me stories of the high priced, high pressure, cookie cutter biz coach who takes your money & runs.

This personality exists in every sales industry from cars to health insurance. It’s an old paradigm that will always exist but you don’t have to fall for it.

In 2017 we have the choice to research & educate ourselves on any subject we want; for free…

Here are the 4 things I looked for when I hired in my business coach Lyn Christian.

  • They Care: First & for most a coach should look to create a relationship with you & NOT A TRANSACTION. When I hired Lyn it was because I felt she cared about me & my success.
  • Experience In The Industry: When I say experience I mean actual experience. Not 6 months in business, closing down business & working at a massage school for 12 years. Actual time in the trenches & have gotten their hands dirty. Anyone can take a sales course, put together a fancy website & blast their program on the web. Very few have experience & have the ability to coach too.
  • They Can Adapt To Your Needs: This is really important, you want a coach who will help you develop & not someone who wants to push you through their puppy mill coaching program. When Lyn & I built my coaching platform it was based on adapting to my clients needs. You have unique talents & strengths, if leveraged correctly they will help you stand out in your community.
  • They Know When To Fire Themselves: I have very high standards for my coaching practice, the results my clients achieve & my reputation; ultimately I get paid to produce results. If I think I’m not a good fit for someone I will tell them & won’t take them on as a client. If at some point I feel I’m not getting the job done I will fire myself. My personality doesn’t mesh with everyone & neither will my coaching style.

I cannot stress these 4 things enough. Be wary of a coach who wants to close the deal, doesn’t want to take the time to build a relationship & help you grow as a person.

If you’d like to schedule a 30 min one to one coaching consult with me I’d love to talk with you.

My promise to you is there will be no hard closes, I want to create a relationship with you & help you fill your practice with clients who value your work & that you love to work with.
