Our 3rd annual SheDemos was a blockbuster night! On Wednesday, November 1, we once again welcomed a sold out crowd to celebrate women in entrepreneurship in Boston.
An enthusiastic and engaged audience met and spoke with the teams participating in the showcase and voted for their fan favorite.
The pitches from the 5 companies, WorkAround Online, Aisling Organics, Project 99, Watch Rx, and Oze were interesting and inspiring. Once again, these entrepreneurs showed us that women-led companies have big vision and aim to solve significant problems.
The teams who took home the prizes are:
Fan Favorite: The Puffin
Puffin is making assistive technology that fits itself to the user, instead of the other way around. Puffin wants its products to work in every place and way that people do, providing them with the same level of access to computers and mobile devices that many take for granted. It strives to make products that are affordable, portable, and durable.
Pitch Winner: WorkAround Online
WorkAround is an online platform that connects companies with displaced workers who deliver online microwork such as image tagging and data entry for machine learning. Companies dealing with machine learning and data analysis require thousands of data points, and although the ultimate goal of all this data is automation, much of it requires initial human input. WorkAround’s skilled pool of workers from areas with low economic opportunities quickly and accurately tag and input this data for machine learning and A.I. focused companies.
