SheWorx AAA Spotlight: Patricia Salume, Co-Founder, Veeloop
Founders in SheWorx are women who embody three core values. We call these the AAA Values: Ambition — We set big goals and push ourselves outside of our comfort zone. Action — We work around constraints and always find a way to get things done. Altruism — We give back to our communities and encourage the success of other women.
Meet Patricia, one of the many incredible founders attending the upcoming SheWorx100 Summit.
1. What does your company do?
VeeLoop is an online approval and payment service that empowers teens and tweens to shop online — the teenager picks, the parent vets and pays! VeeLoop is the virtual equivalent of going shopping with a teen — the teen fills up the basket online, sends it to the parent, the parent reviews and pays in their own time, wherever they are, keeping everyone in the loop with online shopping.
2. What impact are you making? What does this impact look like in 10 years?
VeeLoop’s vision is to become the main online payment method for young people and a one stop for parents to approve teens orders from multiple retailers with the convenience of one simple checkout journey.
We aim to get at least 50% of pocket money spent through VeeLoop. We see teenagers and even students receive their allowance via VeeLoop and buy the things they need online, with their parents peace of mind. We are starting in the UK but will expand to support families and children all over the world to help them enjoy the convenience of online shopping safely. We also want to create the best place to work for women. We recognize that there are so many talented women that struggle to get back to work after starting a family; we will create a stimulating and flexible environment to harness this talent.
3. How do you embody the SheWorx AAA Values of Ambition, Action, Altruism in your work and life?
Ambition — With VeeLoop we want to create something that brings real value to customers. The way we shop is changing, we saw a problem that has been overlooked and decided to solve it. It is a big task but so is our drive and energy!
Action — I like the saying ‘Done is better than perfect’ so try things out and see what works. When I am stuck I ask for help, its amazing how much you get by asking people to help. And keep moving forward.
Altruism — I have received support from many amazing people throughout my life and career so I am always happy to pay it forward and help others starting out in any way I can. Even small things like answering surveys or participating in market research can be a great help to start ups so I always take a few minutes to participate.
4. Why are you excited about the SheWorx100 London Summit? What is the best part about being in the SheWorx community?
Meeting other founders, hearing about their journeys, learning and sharing experiences in a collaborative environment. Start building relationships with potential investors. It is great to see communities like Sheworx breaking the barriers for women to succeed in whatever industry they choose to go into.
