SheWorx AAA Spotlight: Victoria Burlacu, Founder, Faber Novella

Founders in SheWorx are women who embody three core values. We call these the AAA Values: Ambition — We set big goals and push ourselves outside of our comfort zone. Action — We work around constraints and always find a way to get things done. Altruism — We give back to our communities and encourage the success of other women.

Meet Victoria, one of the many incredible founders attending the upcoming SheWorx100 Summit.

1. What does your company do?

Faber Novella is a premium brand of customisable made-to-order shoes that are handcrafted in Italy from the finest materials. The unique online atelier offers customers the possibility to create their dream pair of shoes within 4 easy steps by choosing from over 2500 combinations.

2. What impact are you making? What does this impact look like in 10 years?

Inspired by a lack of innovation in the luxury industry and mypassion for Italian craftsmanship, I have founded Faber Novella with the aim to democratise the luxury footwear sector, by offering women the ability to create a unique product that truly reflects the personality of the wearer.

At the same time we seek to preserve the art of Italian shoe making, protect the country’s unrivaled savoir-faire. In times when renowned brands are moving production further East, we have planted our roots in Italy by working with local businesses, suppliers and designers in the most transparent manner.

3. How do you embody the SheWorx AAA Values of Ambition, Action, Altruism in your work and life?

As entrepreneurs, we have to be ambitious. It all starts with an ambition to make a difference, an impact. But then an idea is nothing without execution. Especially in the early stage of a start-up, you have to roll up the sleeves and take action. In my case, I have spent months in Italian factories learning about shoe making from master artisans, which proved very useful when we were in the product development stage, and when setting up the supply chain.

I often get contacted by aspiring entrepreneurs who are looking to set up a luxury label or a fashion-tech start-up. And even though my schedule is crazy, I try to have a quick chat with each of them, and share my learnings and mistakes. I think it’s important for women to help each other, given we are still a minority when it comes entrepreneurship.

4. Why are you excited about the SheWorx100 London Summit? What is the best part about being in the SheWorx community?

I am excited to be joining the London Summit, as the SheWorx100 team has done an incredible job putting together such an impressive list of participants from the investment side. Most importantly, I look forward to connect with other female entrepreneurs and share our experiences, learn from each other and inspire each other.

Are you building an incredible company? Join us at the upcoming SheWorx100 Summit in London.
