Claiming My Daughter’s Digital Future

This is a fantastic idea, Ryan!

We are expecting our first in a few days (a son) and I would love to incorporate the email plan myself.

What better reason to keep a daily journal that relates to your child, which will eventually be read by said child. It will be the best motivation to write every day knowing that I’ll be enriching the kid with family knowledge and memories long forgotten by the time he gains access to the emails.

And although 12 to 15 years is a long time from now — especially where the changes in technology are concerned — at least if Gmail will cease to exist, I can make sure to print out all the sent emails, so it then ends up being an old-fashioned journal, which is just as good.
