I’ve not written in so long I doubt my ability to produce a coherent blog post but here goes. I’ve received a scholarship from Google’s Women TechMakers to pursue a Full Stack Web Developer nano degree. Why would I bother with this being a computer science graduate and having been in the industry for over 8 years, I should already have this skill set, no?! Well, I don’t. I thought I did…passable skills at least till I met Ezra 'God' Olubi. and Opemipo the Great . Since then, I’ve honestly doubted everything I touched. I remember when E saw the site I’d built for the baby store. He said, “cute.” The painment. I honestly wanted to die. I am building a digital services firm and I cannot be shipping “cute’ work.

I know there’s an option to hire great tech talent which we are doing but I believe that one cannot sell what one truly does not understand to it’s core. This degree will not only enhance my skills but introduce me to new trends and what the current global best practices are. This is extremely important to me as CEO. This scholarship also comes at the perfect time. I was desperate to learn but I couldn’t afford to pay for it on my own. Yeah..CEO but I can’t pay tuition ..LOL.

I am truly excited and going by the structure of the degree, I am sure I am going to learn a lot. See you on the other side. Maybe, I’ll take one on writing after.

Thank you E. Thank you Ope. Thank you Google.
