Behind the Daily Life of a Muggle

Well,it’s actually my first story here and I’m not sure anyone would read this.English is not my native language,so please forgive me if I use the wrong word:-)

Two weeks ago I started writing the Daily Life of Muggle on Wechat(for those who don’t know Wechat,it’s like the combination of Twitter,Whatsapp and Tumblr in China).I grew up reading the Harry Potter series and am still a huge fan of it.So I decided to do something for the everlasting classic I grew up with.I created a feed on Wechat called The Daily Life of a Muggle and started writing. The first article I wrote was Tribute after the Time of Harry Potter,in Chinese of course. But I didn’t write much, most of it was photos and pictures I found on the Internet. However, many people read my article and started subscribing to my feed, which I didn’t expect. So I decided to take it siriusly.

At first, everything was fine.I woke up every morning planning what to write for the day, some of my friends were willing to help me run the account and offered me some great advice. We made some reports on HP celebration and discussed some sirius issues like Is Dumbledore a Gay?.I checked my account daily and felt happy whenever a new subscriber appeared on the screen. We even made a program to auto-reply to every subscriber’s messages as long as they include spells. For example,if a subscriber sent us Expelliarmus, the system would auto-reply a clip from the movie including at least one character performing the spell. We had a wonderful time.

It wasn’t long before all the fun started fading away.I was,and still am a student. My friends all have their own important things to do,studying abroad, getting a Ph.D,etc.It seems that I’m the only one that has nothing better to do than writing some stupid feed, which is still a non-profit project. In China, college students like me are under great pressure.Everyone is trying to succeed before 23,which I think is impossible but pushes everyone to work harder and harder. Thanks to our education,we graduated from high school with nothing in our head. And all of a sudden,we need to worry about rents, jobs, big cars and houses. It worries me but I have no idea what to do.

Generally I’m an introvert, but I can be quite talkative among friends.I do speak excellent English, but I prefer not to speak most of the time. The only thing I’m better at than others is probably my English, which seems useless in modern China.Besides,I am not a very determined person.I hate doing things I don’t like, while the things I do like require huge amounts of time and efforts.

So now I’m at a crossroad, should I keep writing the feed?or should I start learning something I don’t like?Learning may not guarantee me a bright future, but one thing for sure,I see no future in writing the feed.I love writing, but can I write for a living in China?I’m not skilled in writing and in China very few people care about issues like LGBT movements or He for She campaign. The Daily Life of a Muggle has always been a wonderful experience to me,but now,I really need to think about my future.
