Today, I pointed out a lack of Jesus mentioned by Dominion Dating… because if you haven’t noticed, one tell-tale sign of toxic evangelical teachings is a lack of Christ despite their labeling everything “Christian.” Or “biblical.”

Folks, they shared the “Gothard Umbrella.”

Do you know who Bill Gothard is?

Oh, just another infamous American minister who stepped down from the Institute in Basic Life Principles (IBLP) he founded, due to allegations of sexual harassment and abuse.

The Board of Directors “investigated” him and found “no criminal activity” but instead, they said they discovered “Gothard had acted in an inappropriate manner.”

Right.

You might have heard of Gothard before, since he was the leader of the Duggars’ church and they have famously used all of his teachings in their family. You know, the conservative Christian family from TLC’s reality show (er, franchise) 18 Kids and Counting?

Yeah… the family basically lost their series when it was discovered that one of the sons, Josh, molested his sisters when they were young… and then, he was caught up in the whole Ashley Madison data breach as one of their customers. His wife was pregnant at the time, I believe.
