According to Mastin Kipp, complaints are really just unmet needs in disguise. He suggests that anytime you're trying to pinpoint an unmet need, you start with whatever you complain the most about.

Lately, I run into a lot of complaints about the Medium Partner Program which often escalate into predictions about the total demise of Medium--or at least, the MPP.

The truth is that as an indie writer, I don't love everything that Medium does. But I'd be hard pressed to find any company that does everything the way that I'd like.

I am alright with that.

We all have to weigh our own options in any decision we make. Job security is pretty much unheard of for most creatives--at least until you reach a certain level. Even then, you have to work with publishers, rules, businesses, and methods that may not always be your cup of tea.

But it's your responsibility to figure out your own boundaries and then enforce them. That includes where you spend your time and as a writer, that also means where you submit your work.

Why are you here?
