Critical Approach-week 6
The ultimate goal of the critical model is emancipation
It’s the liberation of people from unnecessarily restrictive traditions, ideologies, assumptions, power relations.
There are many ways Emancipation is reached, such as: political action, individual resistance, or awareness of the oppressed individuals.
From the power point we learned that for organizational communication theorists, it is important to find ways that people can participate in free and open communication about power and control in the organizations where they work.
So what does this make possible? I think this opens up the possibilities of many ideas to commence. People may often feel supressed and are nervous to say their idea, and this would encourage it. There are so many unnecessary distractions in the work place, and a lot of people in power may bring them to the table.
If there is change that is necessary, workers are encouraged to make it.
