The USDA Is Creating A New Kind Of Sustainable Food Packaging

We appreciate the biodegradable part, but can you enlighten the rest of us why the packaging needs to be edible?! And if you still need an outer packaging then it makes sense to improve that instead of creating two layers. And if you make packaging edible, then it’s part of food and would need packaging again because it can collect dirt on shelves etc. And if you’re keen to add probiotics and vitamins maybe just spray them on food directly without the casein packaging, because if you add them to packaging then the packaging is food again and needs further packaging!

This whole exercise seems to be an attempt to find new channels for excess dairy by-products by the USDA by forcing casein down consumers throats using the vitamin and probiotics sham.

If milk consumption is declining as you have stated (probably as more people become aware of the health issues associated with dairy consumption), then there should simply be a reduction on the production side as per free market dynamics, no?!
