Bali is a tropical paradise and one of the most popular tourist destinations. Magical sunsets, scenic countryside, volcanic mountains and warm tropical beaches are enough reasons to visit Bali for your next Island holiday, but there’s something more awaits! Bali has become synonymous to shopping in recent years. From upscale boutique and lavish malls to plethora of street markets and mini-bazaars, there’s plenty of places to shop and test your bargaining skills. Bustling with everything from home decor and jewellery to tropical-themed clothes and souvenirs, all handcrafted by local artists and craftsmen, Bali is a heaven for shopaholics. Here’s a list of places that you must include in your Bali tour package on your next holiday for a memorable shopping experience.

1. Beachwalk Shopping Centre

Located on the main beach road of Jalan Pantai Kuta, Kuta Beachwalk is a shopping, dining and entertainment complex where many tourists flock to embrace the mesmerising view and enjoy the on-site activities. The open-air sea-side shopping resort’s motto is “Bali Starts Here.” It is the first of its kind on the island to feature airy open architecture and sustainable design which is a major departure from other malls on the island. Myriads of luxurious brands and hip boutiques are spread over its 3 levels, with some open spaces which offer great views of the ocean and Kuta beach. There’s also a food court with a huge variety from local to international dishes in the central atrium and you can end your day embracing the ocean breeze while dining in an open courtyard.

2. Ubud Traditional Art Market

One of the best shopping places in Bali, Ubud Traditional Art Market located in the centre of Ubud sells souvenirs, art products, and accessories, all handmade and sourced from the surrounding villages of Pengosekan, Tegallalang, Payangan and Peliatan. Here you can find plenty of ikat and batik clothing, silk scarves, lightweight shirts, handmade woven bags, baskets or hats; statues, kites and many other hand-crafted goods. A leisurely walk through this beautifully chaotic market will give you a perfect Balinese vibe and the products are so well crafted that you’ll definitely end up buying a handful. Here your bargaining skills will be put to the test, as the prices are only as good as you are!

3. Kuta Art Market

Kuta Art Market is a small beachside shopping complex and one of the best places to shop in Bali for its unique Bali souvenirs and handicrafts. Kuta Art Market is a small shopping area near Kuta beach, with the backdrop of waves crashing on the shore. There are 6 main shophouses and a long building with many stalls, selling a wide array of typical Bali souvenirs, from key chains, and fridge magnets to colourful hippie-style clothing, Balinese masks, and paintings. The Kuta Art Market also has some shops selling branded beachwear and tropical-themed clothes, the likes of Quiksilver, Billabong, and Rip Curl, as well as local designer brands, line up through Kuta Square and its adjacent boulevards. There’s one thing to keep in mind while bargaining in these markets and that is to be polite and friendly with shopkeepers. Happy Shopping!

4. Jalan Pantai Mengiat Shopping Street, Nusa Dua

Located in the upscale neighbourhood of Nusa Dua, Jalan Pantai Mengiat Shopping Street is perhaps the most recognizable walking street, thanks to its half which runs parallel the namesake beach. It is a beautiful blend of art shops, small bars and restaurants. It starts from the so-called ‘Bemo corner’ intersection, where you can find a multitude of small souvenir shops, spas and art kiosks. The street not only have a multitude of small souvenir shops but also reasonably priced jewellery shops, beachwear and spas which is a very different experience from the high-end boutiques and branded stores, Nusa Dua is otherwise known for.

5. The Taman Sari Market, Seminyak

Taman Sari Market is a traditional Bali shopping market in the posh Seminyak area. It is one of the very few markets of its kind and offers fresh tropical fruits and flowers at low prices and bargain. Located near to many resorts and villas makes it a popular stopover for travelers. During the day one can buy groceries such as fruits, vegetables, flowers, household items, and meat and after sundown, you can enjoy delicious street food like Bakso (meatball soup), grilled satay, and rice porridge. It is a great deviation from the upscale boutique shopping and world-class dining scenes that the resort area of Seminyak is better known for, and thus a great shopping experience.

6. Love Anchor Boutique Complex, Canggu

Love Anchor Boutique Complex is the most popular spot in Canguu, and one of the top things to do in town for all the good reason. It caters to both shoppers and diners, here you can buy a plethora of items which includes fashionable clothes, a variety of souvenirs and different kinds of jewellery and apart from shopping it is a great place to spend a weekend listening to lively music while munching on delicious food. The place is inspired by the Bangkok’s popular weekend markets, the mini-bazaars and on weekends you’ll find the same bazaar vibes from every corner of this Boutique Complex.
