NFT Collection Highlighting Black-Owned Businesses in Minneapolis
Minneapolis-based startup ShotCaller is entering the WEB3 frontier. ShotCaller is a hot new app that allows you and friends to make live, in-game sports picks and win rewards from local partners.
For example, correctly guess if Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson will catch a touchdown and earn points towards winning free fare at local eateries & neighborhood sports bars.
This September, the startup is launching its inaugural NFT (non-fungible token) rewards collection. The ShotCaller MSP NFT is a set of 500 NFT-based rewards with a unique twist. The entire collection was built from the ground up to support Black-owned entrepreneurship in the Minneapolis area, with each reward benefitting a local Black-owned business. You could win signature merch from local CPG startup Love You Cookie, or perhaps a surprise from the local streetwear hotspot The Sneaker Plug. Even the art for the collection was designed in partnership with local high school students from the MNFT group.
To support this movement, fans can visit the ShotCaller website to purchase the NFT’s outright ($10 each), or try their hand at winning one as a prize in upcoming ShotCaller free-2-play NFT contests. Every ShotCaller MSP NFT holder will receive preferential access to future drops, community events, and more.
Promoting Digital Equity
Digital equity is the next great equalizer. At ShotCaller, we believe that technology is the quickest path to changing the social and economic reality of our most underserved communities.
To illustrate this in action, ShotCaller is teaming up with local 501c3 Smart North, as the charity partner for this collection.
Smart North is building a community Future Hub in South Minneapolis that will be offering education, access to technology, and other essential services to the community’s youth. A percentage of NFT sale proceeds will be donated directly to youth education programs at the hub.
Minneapolis-Saint Paul (MSP) has begun to emerge as a WEB3 leader in equity and inclusion. WEB3 refers to the set of blockchain based technologies, including NFTs and cryptocurrency, which are becoming the foundation for the next iteration of the internet. ShotCaller is excited to contribute in building a more inclusive WEB3 ecosystem for underserved entrepreneurs, and we hope to see more startups & brands follow suit!
