The Move to Aurelia and Why It’s Worth It
Recently, we developed a majority of our SAAS in ASP.NET MVC using C#. After getting most of it done, we contemplated a couple of things — release something functional and mediocre or scratch it and develop something that has a new age touch and an experience that competes with today’s applications using Aurelia. By the title, you can tell what we chose.
Why Aurelia?
First off, let me start by saying I’m a developer and I have a full time job (not ShowVert) as a software developer. At my day-job, we started using AngularJS a few months back. It was rough…real rough. Maybe it’s just the way my mind works, but it was a tough transition into it coming from ASP.NET MVC C#. When we started reading about Aurelia, we decided to hold off on developing for a bit and hop on the Aurelia train. Best. Decision. We. Could. Have. Made. It’s so fluent and easily understandable. Also, they’ve written it in such a way that makes it so modular, it’s incredible. For those who don’t know, the creator of it actually worked on the AngularJS 2.0 team and saw that it wasn’t the framework that everybody expected so he bailed (thank the lord). After being the main Aurelia Developer at the day job, I decided to make the call to develop ShowVert with it. I have no doubt that it’s the right call. The only downside is that it’s going to take a bit longer before we get to release something. But when we do release something, you better be ready. The UX/UI will be fluent, you won’t have to worry about reading through all of these “how to” documents, and it will be a pleasure to use overall. Get ready. ShowVert is on the rise with Aurelia.
