Show My Homework is supporting this year’s anti-bullying week #makeanoise

Today marks the first day of this year’s anti-bullying week. Anti-bullying week takes place each year and aims to raise awareness of bullying amongst young people. Bullying unfortunately, will affect most of us at one point or another and it comes in many different forms. It’s important to raise awareness of the different types of bullying there are, how to prevent it and who to talk to if you are worried about being bullied or someone else being bullied.

The only way we can stop bullying is to stand up, seek help and not suffer in silence. But first, we must be aware of the different forms of bullying that take place — in school, bullying can be so commonplace that you may not realise that people are being victimised or even that you, could be being bullied or even upsetting someone else.

Bullying doesn’t have to be physical, it can be psychological or verbal. It can take place in person or behind a screen, this form of bullying is called cyber bullying. It can be a group of people bullying one person or one person bullying one or more people. Bullying is usually triggered by an imbalance of power, be that a real imbalance or perceived imbalance. Bullying is the intentional harming of another person. It can take on less obvious forms such as leaving people out on purpose, spreading rumours, making fun of someone or ignoring them.

It’s important to remember that a person being bullied may not always speak up for many reasons. They may be scared of the consequences if they ‘tell’ on somebody, embarrassed that they’re being bullied or they may not know who they can go to. When you’re victimised by others it’s very easy to feel alone with nowhere to turn.

If you see any of these acts of bullying taking place, are a perpetrator or have had or are currently experiencing them, you must make a noise — #makeanoise. Stand up for someone, tell someone what they are doing is wrong, console the victim or seek help from someone you trust. It may be easier said than done, but we all know that bullying is cruel and wrong. It usually just takes one brave person to stand-up to bullying and others will follow suit. Be brave and start helping put an end to bullying, today.
