Youtube is one of the most well-known and most used apps ever. People have been using it for years to post different kinds of content. Some people post comedy videos, others post how-to videos, and the list goes on and on.

The cool thing about Youtube is that anybody can post on it. Anyone could start the next BIG channel, or post the next viral video. This person could be YOU

Many people utilize Youtube in a way that they are able to bring in a steady cash flow. How much you can make off of Youtube is all based on you. Some people make millions, while others make a couple extra thousand dollars a month. Either way, Youtube is an amazing way to earn extra income.

I am here to give you a few simple steps on how you can start and manage a growing and flourishing Youtube channel. Once you get the ball rolling on your Youtube channel you will be able to grow your cash flow immensely.

Youtube is a Marathon, not a Sprint

The first thing that you need to know about Youtube is that it is a Marathon and not a Sprint.

Many people start their first channel expecting to get 1000 followers after their first video. Unless your content is out of this world and super unexpected, this is not how it works.

A channel on Youtube takes time to build up. It takes multiple videos of high content to get views, followers, and likes. Youtube is an algorithm. The more you post content and do it consistently Youtube will put you out there for others to see your videos.

You have to realize that it takes time and effort to build up a good Youtube channel. It might take some consistent hard work, but in the end, the payoff is worth it.

To help give you a jumpstart on what you need for your Youtube channel to grow I am going to talk about three areas you should be focused on that will help jumpstart your Youtube channel.

1. Your Niche

Your Niche is so important in order to have a thriving Youtube channel. Your Niche is the thing that sets you apart. It’s what you decide to be the main focus of your channel. Your niche could be talking about money, talking about movies, playing sports, traveling, it could be anything.

Let’s look at an example. Let’s say you wanted to watch some sports or listen to sports talk. You would go to ESPN’s channel because they are known for only showing sports content. You wouldn’t go to Cartoon Network to watch sports, nor would you go to ESPN to watch cartoons. If you wanted to watch sports content and you flipped the channel to ESPN and you saw cartoons you would be totally confused.

This is why your Niche is so important. You have to establish a specific niche for your channel or else people won’t subscribe to you.

If people don’t know what to expect from you, then they will not want to subscribe to you.

2. Package your Ideas

The way you portray your video plays a huge part in how many views you will get.

I watched a Youtube video on this guy who talked about the importance of clickbait. He said that he posted a video on Asteroids that he was expecting to blow past his other videos in how many views it got. To his disappointment, this video got way fewer views than he expected. This video ended up being at the bottom of his list of most viewed videos.

The first title he gave to this video was “Asteroids: Earth’s Biggest Threats.” After getting very few views he decided to change the title. He changed it about 3 or 4 times and still nothing changed. He tried one more title and called it “These are the Asteroids to Worry About.” After putting this title, the video ended up getting over 14 million views and became his top-viewed video.

All this is to say that you need to package your ideas well. You need to have a good thumbnail and title that will capture someone's attention. It has to be so captivating that a person wouldn’t be able to scroll by without clicking on your video.

3. Production Quality

Production Quality plays a decently huge factor in pulling in views. Having a decent camera, and decent lighting among other things can definitely help in capturing your audience's interest. It might even be small things like adding music to the background of your videos.

I’m not saying you have to have the best of the best technology that is super expensive. Some successful people on Youtube still use their phones, but having a sense of good production quality will definitely optimize your content.

4. Time to get to Work

Starting a Youtube channel may be a scary thought. The cool thing about Youtube is that you can post ANYTHING. People are making thousands of dollars off of Youtube channels where they don’t even show their faces. All you need to do is utilize these simple steps I talked to you about today and start posting videos. The sooner you start consistently posting videos about whatever your Niche is the sooner you will start to get views, comments, likes, and ultimately followers.
