The interesting thing here was that while the paintings were original artwork, the seller was not actually the one making the paintings. The seller was using a print-on-demand service like Printify to do all the background work for them. All the seller has to do is create the artwork, because once it is created all they have to do is apply it to the canvas on Printify and link their Printify account to Etsy.
Everytime someone buys one of these paintings from Etsy the whole process from manufacturing to printing to shipping is all handled by Printify. This makes the process super easy for someone wanting to make a lot of money selling artwork on Etsy.
What to do if I’m not artistic?
The cool part about this whole process is that you do not need to be super artistic to be able to sell this art. There are sites like Unsplash.com that have thousands of free images that you could download. From there, there are countless Photoshop sites that will allow you to edit the picture to make it original to you! Sites like Envato Elements, or even Art Scribbles Photoshop Action are really good sites for being able to edit your picture. Once edited you will be able to go back to Printify to start to sell this picture as Canvas Art.
If you did happen to need some design inspiration for your picture, there is a site called Designspiration where you can look for inspiration based on color or keywords.
Another really good idea of the kind of canvas you could sell would be Inspirational quotes. Whether from athletes, actors, movies, or anything, people love inspirational quotes. Inspirational quotes canvas art has been known to sell very well!
