YOU DON’T NEED TO KNOW HOW TO CODE, TO LAUNCH YOUR IDEA
So, you have an idea. You just don’t think it can be done because you never learned how to code.
You are wrong.
I started a company and launched an app, all without writing a single line of code. Your dream is possible. And it can be accomplished, no matter your age.
I was 18 and had just quit pursuing a passion that was supposed to be my career. I knew I had two choices. One, I can sit and do nothing. Or two, I can begin something I always wanted to do — start a business. There was just one problem. I had no clue where to even begin. I had spent the past years only focused in music. I didn’t know anything about starting a business.
I sat down at my desk with only a pen and paper. I told myself I have exactly one hour to write down as many ideas for a business, then at the end of the hour, I’d choose the top 3. I set the timer and started writing. I came up with two that seemed more like fun jokes, then I wrote down the third. I wanted to create a way to find places to visit that I never knew existed. Places and things to do that allow me to experience life more.
That is when I began to create — Views.
Not knowing how to code was a major road block. I knew I wouldn’t be able to learn everything I needed to know in time. I turned to the internet and hunted down developers. I finally landed several through social media. The quotes I received were beyond anything I could ever afford. I was just a student after all. One potential developer seemed extremely promising. I contacted him and after talking, found out that it could work out. The price was perfect and I felt he was trustworthy, even with him being located in Europe. I hired him as a works-for-hire and we began.
Everyday will be a new lesson learned.
Look for developers to hire. They are out there through social media, hiring sites (i.e. Upwork), and your community/schools. Work with them. You will make mistakes. There may be moments where you feel like you might fail. It’s normal.
I encourage you to not give up and push through the days. Make every second count. And most importantly… learn from everything.
I do not discredit anyone who knows how to code. That’s such a crucial skill. And will give you an advantage of your own. Congrats for learning the skill.
