Great! I agree that the pitfalls of especially the last two points tend to make many shy away from actually dealing with this.

Where I work we definitely deal with the tough task of laying this all out to upper management and customers because of the “need to please.”

I think using tools like you discussed in your “11 ways..” post (https://hackernoon.com/11-ways-i-visualize-product-development-work-f32aee3fcbf7?source=linkShare-da1b560aa0c5-1502297406) would help many break it all down.

It is still not an easy task, and yes time consuming, but definitely necessary to bring the pitfalls of needing time to actually do the work rather than end up stuck in task switching and other invisible work.
