Google Is Killing Parenthood

Your point about teachers, bosses, etc. no longer controlling information flow and decision-making is an interesting one.

In tech in particular, there has been a deliberate shift to justifying product decisions based on data and earned-authority rather than “because the boss said so”. This is decidedly more difficult for managers, but leads to visibly better outcomes.

I wonder if there is an analogy for parenting here. One where we are forced to question, explain and justify our decisions in a way that ensures that our children learn from us, rather than simply do what we say.

It seems like a good opportunity to become better parents.
