John Milius — the uber-macho screenwriter of Apocalypse Now, the original Red Dawn, and the first two Dirty Harry flicks — did an interview with Playboy around ’91 or so. The interviewer asked “When, if ever, a man is allowed to cry?”

His answer: “[w]henever he damn-well pleases!” He then told a story of how his 🐶 had recently died and he was a 😭 mess for about a week.
