Often the narrow-minded claim suicide is illogical and an illness, but then they have to explain why it has not only been considered a great honor, but rational by many others. For example, when Quic Dan Duc, burnt himself alive as a protest in a busy intersection in Vietnam in 1963, was this illogical? Did he need help? Was he mentally ill? Was this shameful?
Of course, not all suicides are literal protest-suicides, but is there not a place where what is called reason and health by society should be disturbed without reducing this disturbance to illness and the illogical?
