Background on the Writer

Here’s the thing, it’s no secret that I work for Simply Granted. I’m not going use this blog as an advertising tool though (the product sells itself), I’m going to use it to help you and your organization flourish. Before I begin with my high-horse ramblings, let’s start with a little background. I began working with non-profits in high school so about age 15, I don’t know what sparked it all I know is that I loved it. Eventually I had to transition into adulthood, while I was still volunteering it really didn’t pay the bills; something my parents pointed out frequently. So I had to enter the workforce, but I still made sure my organizations came as close to first as possible without having my lights shut off. Eventually, I found myself completely overwhelmed with volunteering, to the point where I almost left! Then a place called Feeding the Hungry Inc. (phenomenal West Palm Non-profit) decided to bring me on as a full time volunteer, after that I basically became an executive assistant (I was only 20). Then a woman at a church I attended; and of course volunteered with saw my passion for helping things grow and asked me to sit on her Board of Directors for Rafael’s Heart (Literally in tears, I accepted) I started there as a director (I was 21). Fast forward 2 years, I had to leave Feeding the Hungry Inc. physically (I do a lot of their electronic work), I am now Vice President of Rafael’s Heart and I’m only 23. So over the span of 8 years I’ve basically managed to climb my way up the tax-exempt ladder, and make the transition from volunteer, to full time volunteer, to executive assistant, to director, to VP. When it write it, it really does seem like some sort of amazing feat, in all truth it was just a natural progression. So in all honesty, while I’m not the end all be all of the NPO Community, I am someone who started from the bottom. Let me add this, these are local organizations, I’m not a national chapter VP and we aren’t the red cross, but I do make sure that anything I’m involved aids in community action. So that’s my NPO story! I look forward to shedding light on information and also helping everyone reading maximize their potential!
