UK-USA Ministries
On Feb. 11 at 10:30 a.m., I had the opportunity to interview a small team from UK-USA Ministries in the Grand Lobby of DeMoss hall. Mike Taylor, Hannah Taylor and Josh Willson were creating interest for their program for Liberty University’s Global Focus Week.
Mike Taylor has been a missionary in the U.K. for five years, but has done missions all over the world. UK-USA Ministries is an independent missions organization that partners with American schools and churches. Upon speaking with Taylor, I discovered that he has even partnered with my own home church, Liberty Baptist Church in Hampton, Virginia.

The following portion of this article outlines the interview I conducted with Taylor and his assistants.
All answers are given by Mike Taylor unless otherwise stated.
What location did you enjoy the most?
“I enjoy the UK, but I have done missions all over.”
What do you wish college students knew about working on the mission field?
“Serve first. Finish well. Don’t chase the next adventure while you are still in the current one.”
Was there a specific instance where you saw an overwhelming need for God?
“Pick a village. There is such a spiritual dryness.”
“Just going into the different communities around us.” -Josh Willson
What is the most important skill to have on the mission field?
“Endurance,” -Hannah Taylor
“Relational and communication skills, for sure.”
What majors are most beneficial to those who wish to pursue full-time missions?
“There is no specific major, but I would just say, serve within your calling. Just don’t major in something like computer science if you want to be a missionary in the medical field. Teaching would be a good one for broader opportunities.”
What is the most difficult part of your job?
“Being away from family is definitely hard, but so is maintaining the vision in both directions: on the home front and back on the field.”
What is your favorite Bible verse? Why?
“Matthew 20:28. It’s Jesus’s model for missions.”
When does your work feel the most exhausting?
“Long meetings are exhausting, not ministry or missions.”
Most rewarding?
“Watching people come to faith, servants working together with a united spirit. It is really cool to see people fulfilling their callings.”
