Okay so, this is a mistake:

When you factor in the 1,320 to 6,630 transgender people that’s: $208,080,000 to $1,014,390,000!

Maybe 10–25% of trans people actually get gender reassignment, so you’re off by an order of magnitude.

And you are still missing the point.

You are the only — I repeat, THE ONLY industrialized nation that does not pay for the healthcare of all its citizens.

You keep going on about cost. You don’t understand. Cost. Is. Irrelevant. What part of this do you not understand? If your country can find $28 billion to build a plane that can’t fucking fly it can find the money to pay for its citizen’s healthcare. So why don’t you?

Do you get it? I’m not asking how much it costs. I’m asking why the hell aren’t you paying for it already? What kind of person looks at this egregious ethical failure and says “this is fine”?

Today I woke up to the news that my taxes paid for the open heart surgery of a boy on the other side of the country. I’m thrilled! Nobody had to die for want of money. That’s it. That’s the whole value. Fuck the ledger, fuck the budget. A boy got to live because I paid taxes. Why isn’t that good enough for you?
