Yes. In fact they were twice as likely to enlist compared to the general population, because of rampant job/housing/health/social discrimination elsewhere.
I’m sure there are koolaid-drinking patriots among them but it is economic desperation that drives enlistment. A desperation made worse by the fact that the federal government is now trying to actively dismantle civil rights for trans people so they can be discriminated against at any time and any place in the country.
Military worship is a serious problem in the States but I doubt anyone who was anti-war will suddenly start supporting war just because the President decided to kick trans people during a temper tantrum. Anti-war tends to overlap with pro-social policies, and I suspect most of them would sooner support the elimination of economic desperation than celebrate the inclusion of trans folk in an occupying force.
