Reading this blog post, you more than likely accessed it on some form of social media platform whether it be Twitter or LinkedIn.

Hit me with the hashtag!

Time spent using social media is progressing adequately. The average person can spend up to nine hours daily between various platforms.

Not everyone actually understands the term of social media. Understandably social media is defined as “Websites and applications that enable users to create and share content or to participate in social networking”.

To me, social media is many different things.

  1. Social media is connecting with others that share the same interests as me, whether that be design, coding, development or music.
  2. It is a gateway into the wonderful world around us, encouragement and motivation.

In todays world, social media is a spiralling trend. Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, Reddit and Pinterest all fall into the category of the most visited social media platforms of 2017. These websites authorise the uploading of images, your opinions and taking part in conversations with people that share the same interests as you. They provide a sense of commonality with people you may not even know.

Social Media allows us to understand whats happening around the world with a click of a button or even a hashtag.

But what does social media mean to you? Does it mean actively learning through others, having your own view? Or is it a window into the unbelievable world around us?
