I already quit a bunch of stuff…
Four years since I’ve had a cigarette. I was only up to a pack a day for three years. I quit on New Year’s Day 2012; the only resolution that has been kept in the history of Man (Human). [I felt that I had to correct myself. Too far? Another day!]
It has been… I wanna tell you here that I had to look on my key-chain and do the math… It has been two years and seven months since I’ve had a beer; I stopped the hard stuff years earlier!!! I honestly thought that it had been longer.
I haven’t cut myself since the night of my last beer. [addendum: I did give myself two black eyes a couple months back… different story.]
About ten years since I smoked crack rock. I gave away my car that time. I think that helped me quit.
Probably less then five years, but more that two years and seven months since I snorted cocaine. Hard to stay away from that drug in the restaurant industry.
I haven’t abused prescription drugs in about… it’s hard for me to pinpoint that one, but I’m pretty sure I haven’t abused any since I stopped drinking. It’s hard to tell in this pill-popping era!
I mention all of these accomplishments because on my second day of being a member here at Medium, I received an email offering me a recommended by Medium Staff article about what someone had learned after two years of not drinking. The tag line said that he had a list of nine things. It just got me thinking; could I think of nine things that changed after all my quit dates? My entire life.
This is one small piece of my big ugly beautiful pie. I will write about everything using any form I have in my mind that day.
Two days in the bucket… 364 to go. I had to start on a leap year!
Sometimes I won’t re-read/edit these. This is one!
