This is why you need to be a roof-topper

Let me get right into it:

We are conditioned to believe that we have an electricity bill to pay every month — That’s not true anymore. Solar panels on your roof are very powerful, literally and figuratively.

Here is an example of the concept of rooftop solar net metering work at its best. We installed a 5 KW home solar system for Mr. Ashish Chakravarty, a resident of CR Park in Delhi. Last month, this is what happened:

Solar helped him reduce his consumption from the Utility to 782 Units but it also did something else — it allowed him to “sell” or “export” 441 Units back to the Utility on the days when he wasn’t at home (Pic 1). Which means, his net bill for the month was 782 – 441 = 341 (Pic 2), That’s over 56% in savings!

Pic 1. Bill showing 782.30 Units of Consumption and 440.80 Units of Export i.e. 341 Units (rounded) of Net Bill
Pic 2. Net Bill for 341 Units

Here’s what he had to say about this experience:

“I installed Sunvest solar energy system of 5 KW in my house in CR Park three months back. The installation process was handled efficiently without any disruption and today I am happy to say that my electricity bill has come down by about Rs. 5000 a month, which is a great return on an investment of Rs 4.5 lakhs (Rs. 450,000). It was reassuring that Sunvest solar panels undergo a rigorous 100 per cent quality check and an imported inverter which should last longer. Finally, I believe that I have contributed in a small measure to mitigate global warming.”

Mr. Chakravarty is a Smart Indian. Are you?

This post is a part of the #FreedomfromBills series by Sunvest to increase the awareness of rooftop solar and its benefits. If you think, rooftop solar has the power to change the world — like, share and spread the word.
