The things we should do to stay healthy and live longer

By living our daily lives we often forget to listen to ur body. We don’t set time for rest, eat unhealthy or overeat at irregular times, don’t get enough sleep, smoke, etc. This lifestyle eventually lets diseases catch us. What we should do, if we want to stay healthy and happy while maintaining our busy lives.

The key to feel good is having a harmony between mind and body.

Here are a few things that can improve our overall wellbeing:

Eat real food

You probably have heard it many times but we know that some things are easier said than done. If you your goal is to become healthy and fit you should really try to avoid as much as possible sugar, artificial sweeteners, processed foods, saturated fats, alcohol, food preservatives. As transition from an unhealthy lifestyle to a healthy one is not an easy process, it takes time. It’s recommended to start with baby steps by incorporating more vegetables and fruits in your diet one at a time. If you are patient and motivated enough, you are bound to see the good results.

Green tea is your friend

Although it may be hard for most of us to give up the beloved coffee, when taken in big amounts its awakening effect becomes negative. Also the effects from coffee are wearing off faster than these of the green tea. Coffee overdose leads to nervousness, insomnia and high blood pressure. If you are overdoing it on caffeine, try sticking to just a cup per day. Replace the other coffee cups with green tea which is a milder option to stay awake.

Green tea not only wakes you up but also protects you from some diseases, speeds up your metabolism and even makes your smarter. It contains huge amounts of antioxidants, some of which catechins that prevents the cells from ageing and L-Theanine which improves our memory and alertness.

Sleep up

We often underestimate sleep, but this is a real cure for our body. The recommended sleep dose is 8 hours. Sleep deprivation leads to heart diseases, diabetes, obesity, depression, weight gain, bad memory and other diseases. Sleep deprivation makes you more vulnerable to getting into a road accident and getting injured as you are less able to focus. Sleep loss reduces the hormone leptin responsible for controlling the appetite and thus underslept people are eating more. As light stops melatonin production, we should avoid bright lights and stay in a subdued lighting, if you have difficulty falling asleep.

Meditate

There is enough evidence that meditation brings about many benefits to our mental health, lowers the cholesterol levels and improves sleep. It is believed that meditation on a regular basis makes us more creative, peaceful and focused on the present moment. Even 10–15 minutes are enough. After meditation we feel less tensed and relaxed. It’s recommended to be done in the morning but other times are fine too.

Get a massage

Besides relieving sore muscles massage has the ability to make you feel less stressed and fights off depression and chronic head ache. It is proven that massage makes you sleep better. Massage is healthy for not only the muscular system, but also to the skeletal, nervous, respiratory, lymphatic and digestive system.

One of the healthiest massages is Ayurveda massage. Ayurveda medicine originates from India and offers natural healing methods that fight a big number of diseases without medication and side effects. Ayurveda massages are done with Indian herbs and original curative oils which get out the toxins accumulated in the body and make our skin look fantastic.

When we feel good, we definitely fell happy and influence positively the others around us. Ayurveda’s philosophy says that we should add life to the years, not years to the life.
