Digital wallet launch
After months of heavy lifting from the team @ Skrilla, we are excited to announce the launch of our digital wallet!
A key focus since the release of the Skrilla Token (SKR) late last year has been the integration of SKR as the core currency within the platform. With the goal of providing seamless utility for all token holders to enter contests and exchange SKR won for alternative value (gaming gear, crypto, fiat).
Our eWallet now makes it simple to send, receive, purchase, and cash out of SKR tokens.
So how does it work?
Deposit SKR: Purchased SKR during our token sale or on an external exchange? Now you can transfer it to your eWallet to cover entry fees into Contests or make a purchase from the Gear store*.
Withdrawal SKR: Won, earned or purchased SKR on the platform? It can now be transferred from your eWallet to any compatible external wallet for storage or exchange into crypto/fiat.
Buy SKR: With the introduction of paid entry contests in selected countries, verified users will now be able to buy the SKR necessary to cover their entry fees, from within their eWallet, using their debit or credit card.
Sell SKR (cash out): Cashing out is without doubt one of the most important aspects of a gaming platform. It needs to be quick and painless. Version one of the eWallet also provides a user the option to cash SKR out to Ether (ETH)*. Which users can then convert to a currency of their choice if desired (i.e. BTC/USD/EUR).
This is merely stage one of the eWallet, with the intention that we continue to add additional fiat/crypto options to provide users with their preferred payment experience.
US paid entry contests
In another major milestone, today marks the launch of our first international paid entry contests, with players in the following US states able to participate in paid entry contests for larger prize pools:
- District of Columbia
- New Mexico
- North Carolina
- North Dakota
- Rhode Island
- South Carolina
- South Dakota
- West Virginia
This complements our free entry SKR contests currently available in all 50 US states and most other countries. The US is the first of multiple countries where paid entry contests will soon be available!
As a digital currency exchange and licensed gaming platform we are required to conduct automated identity checks on all our Australian, US and Canadian users, as part of the registration process. However not everyone passes identity checks first time around, for a variety of reasons.
For those users that don’t pass, we now have the option for users to self-verify their account by providing additional information. This speeds up the process and allows users immediate access to additional eWallet and Contest functionality, without any additional manual steps :)
We have expanded contest functionality to allow for finals matches! These contests will have placeholders which will be populated with the teams/matches once they are known. With more on the line as we get to the pointy end of a Tournament, the contest stakes are now raised!
