Kwanzaa — 50th Year Anniversary — Day 2: Kujichagulia means Self-Determination

I stay KUJI down to my socks. Kujichagulia means to define ourselves, name ourselves, create for ourselves, and speak for ourselves. Black Music aka Hip Hop more specifically is probably the greatest modern day manifestation of this principle in practice. Using the power of the drum, elevating one’s identity, or concocting a new one and transmitting it through the music = Self-Determination at work. So yea Young Thug is just as self-determined as let’s say Tristan Walker. The spirit of Self-Determination is a feeling held deep down in the gut. Once you discover/uncover your true worth, beautiful things will blossom and manifest.
