INTRODUCTION
At SmartFOX we believe that the integrity and values of a project can be gleaned by the way that they handle adversity. It's no secret that we launched into some of the worst market conditions in living memory, and consequently did not sell out our genesis mint.
And how did we react? By resolving to continue building furiously during the bear market anyway, by reinvesting every single penny of capital earned into the project (no SmartFOX founder has earned a single penny from SmartFOX), and by pushing on from a roadmap perspective as if we had sold out every single NFT during our genesis stage.
SO WHAT HAVE WE BEEN UP TO?
During the recent NFT and crypto bear market we worked tirelessly to fulfil what was promised in our roadmap, and can confirm that we are ready to release the following in September:
- 3D foxes created by our Ubisoft and Disney alumni.
- The FOXES ERC20 hybrid governance and utility token.
- A revamped website complete with new branding.
- Details of our launchpad (which will be integrated into our new website) which can only be accessed by SmartFOX NFT holders.
- A rarity calculator for SmartFOX NFT launches.
THE PLAN FOR THE FUTURE
When we initially started the project, we assumed that the 2D genesis fox would be the key to accessing utility throughout the SmartFOX ecosystem. It was the first NFT that we had created, and held a special place in our hearts. But though we love our 2D SmartFOX NFTs, we believe that the 3D NFTs we have been working on — created by state of the art animation techniques — are more fully illustrative and representative of the future that SmartFOX embodies.
For this reason, the 3D SmartFOX NFT will become the focus of the ecosystem after the launch of the new series of NFTs and the FOXES token.
HOW WILL THIS WORK? WHAT ABOUT EARLY SUPPORTERS?
We're glad you asked! Our early supporters are incredibly important to us, and will be well looked after as we move into the future. The following steps outline exactly what will happen as we head into September and the launch of the next phase of SmartFOX.
At midnight on Wednesday 31st August 2022 a snapshot will be taken, and all genesis 2D NFT holders at this time will be eligible for 2 airdrops:
- A free 3D SmartFOX NFT (for each genesis 2D SmartFOX that you own).
- 100,000 FOXES tokens, airdropped after 3 months, on 1st December 2022 (for each genesis 2D SmartFOX that you own).
The genesis 2D mint will be closed at this point (Wednesday 31st August 2022).
The airdropped 3D SmartFOX NFTs will for the most part have a one-to-one mapping of almost all characteristics, but in some cases our 3D artistic team chose not to replicate certain traits or characteristics for aesthetic and artistic reasons.
For the ultra unique 2D NFTs (that were mostly gifted to preferential marketing partners) there will be no 3D equivalent, though anyone that owns one of these special NFTs will be airdropped a 3D SmartFOX NFT at random.
THE PLAN FOR 3D SMARTFOXES AND THE FOXES TOKEN
During September, we will open a whitelist for the minting of 3D SmartFOX NFTs, as follows:
- On Thursday 1st September 2022, the 3D SmartFOX NFT whitelist will open, and remain open for 2 weeks. Anyone that whitelists and ultimately mints will be eligible to mint a 3D SmartFOX, and will also receive a free 2D SmartFOX genesis NFT.
- The maximum number of 3D SmartFOX NFTs will be capped at 5,000. Consequently, there can only be a maximum of 5,000 3D SmartFOX NFTs in circulation, and a maximum of 5,000 2D SmartFOX NFTs in circulation. That's right folks, we essentially reduced the supply of both 2D NFTs and 3D NFTs by 50%.
- After the 3D SmartFOX NFT whitelist closes on Thursday 15th September 2022, there will be a 3 day period during which eligible whitelisted addresses can mint 3D foxes.
- After this time elapses, there will be a 2 week period during which SmartFOX NFTs can be minted (up to the maximum of 5,000 total NFTs), but anyone minting during this time will not accrue a free 2D SmartFOX genesis NFT.
THE 3D SMARTFOX NFT: WHAT UTILITY DOES IT HAVE?
Our vision is that each NFT is not just great art, and an amazing PFP in its own right, but that it’s the key to the entire SmartFOX ecosystem, and part of a revolutionary new brand that will develop and evolve over time!
Each 3D SmartFOX NFT will provide the following:
- Access to the SmartFOX launchpad, giving holders preferential terms and deals on upcoming mints and projects, including P2E games, and trading card systems (see our launchpad section below).
- Hold your NFT to get monthly FOXES token airdrops. The first airdrops will be delivered on Thursday 1st December 2022, but your 3D SmartFOX NFT will begin to accrue monthly amounts starting on Saturday 1st October 2022. And if you held a 2D genesis SmartFOX NFT at the snapshot date, you'll be eligible for an additional 100,000 FOXES tokens!
- Gain access to "Picasso's Space" in the SmartFOX discord which — going forwards — as well being an exclusive place for SmartFOX holders to gather and vibe, will become a unique NFT learning space, hosting talks and tutorials from renowned NFT experts and artists.

WHAT IS THE FOXES TOKEN?
The FOXES token is the native token underpinning the SmartFOX ecosystem. Think of it as being synonymous with the APE token for Bored Ape Yacht Club/ BAYC.
It can be used to purchase future SmartFOX launchpad NFTs and services at a discount, used to buy items from our preferential partners, as well as providing essential voting rights when SmartFOX ultimately transitions to full DAO status.
We are considering other services such as metaverse land sales — there will be much more information on this coming soon!
The SmartFOX token will be launched on Uniswap on Monday 5th September. This will be a fair launch, there are no team tokens, allowing anyone that sees the value and uniqueness of our project to gain exposure at this time by purchasing the token.
THE SMARTFOX LAUNCHPAD
The SmartFOX launchpad will be a key element of the SmartFOX ecosystem that will give our users access to new projects and NFT collections by incredible artists and designers. Our network is extensive and varied due to our connections at Disney, Ubisoft, Network, Dream Works… the list goes on!
We are already in discussion with and close to finalising exclusive deals with multiple award-winning teams and artists.
It's important to us that we simply don't just offer our members NFT-only projects: utility is essential to the projects we bring on board.
One of the projects we are close to securing rights to is a P2E game by Ubisoft alumni featuring art from Enrique Fernandez (Disney, Dreamworks, & Netflix), and the other is a trading card game featuring art from acclaimed Ubisoft Director, Amadeu Aldavert.
