This letter is in response to President Trump’s 2021 budget proposal, which would slash funding for the SBA and other critical resources for small businesses.
Dear Editor –
Where you invest your money is a direct reflection of your priorities. By that measure it is evident that President Trump is not committed to investing in America’s small businesses and entrepreneurs.
President Trump’s recently released his 2021 budget, and it took direct aim at small businesses. His proposal suggests slashing the Small Business Administration’s budget by 25% and cutting $93 million in from federal entrepreneurial development programs.
As a small business owner who has been in business for 38 years in the DC metro area, I have experienced different levels of support for small businesses from elected officials, but never have I seen a President demonstrate such disdain for small business. President Trump is undercutting America’s entrepreneurs.
Small businesses are the backbone of our economy; creating two out of every three new jobs and accounting for nearly half of America’s GDP.
It is time for this Administration and Congress to put more energy into ensuring America’s 30 million small business owners thrive. Prioritizing them in budget decisions and properly funding the SBA is a good place to start.
