Here in the U.K., we’ve just had a general election, where the voice of common sense was conspicuously absent. The biggest issue facing our country in a generation is Brexit, but both main parties were committed to it; only the minor parties (Liberal Democrats, Greens, Scottish Nationalists) were against Brexit, and collectively they only won 71 parliamentary seats out of 650. The left-wing Labour Party came a close second, but it’s no longer a progressive liberal force, and now has more of an old fashioned hard left Trotskyist agenda under Jeremy Corbyn. I think we’re doomed.
