Is Universal Basic Income As Radical As You Think?

Who is going to generate all this income and how are we going to coerce them into doing so? What happens if they refuse to hand it over and you have a population that for the most part no longer has the skills to produce anything useful? Proposing a system that encourages dependence and helplessness seems like a bad idea. You can argue that the government can enforce the distribution of all this mysteriously generated wealth but when you have a group of people who can get things done (the producers/owners of wealth and the technology that creates it) and a group of people who need to be given part of this wealth because they have nothing to offer in exchange for it, I can pretty much guess who will be in control of said government…
