#Activingham: the Story of Active Benefits

Nowadays, mass media are spamming our minds by sending all around the World information about sports, exercises, sports equipments, fitness, Zumba, jogging, running etc.

And from your comfy couch you are thinking “ neh, don’t need it, I look ok, I love my body and all this staff looks way too complicated”

But is it the active life just about losing weight? What other benefits the active style can bring to your life?

Why we need to be active

Meet Emma

Couple of weeks ago my friend Emma came to me and asked if i had noticed any changed in her during last 5 years. Yes, 5 years is a big period of time and we all change all the time, but the instantaneous answer was ‘No, you look exactly the same!’.

That was a weird (in a good sense) start of a long discussion. And as many big things in life it started with a small and unimportant occasion: Emma was sorting her wardrobe and decided to try her favorite shorts on… And it didn’t fit.

It’s always a huge disappointment for any girl, when things like this happen. Many of us will just ignore this fact (feel discouraged, a bit depressed, but don’t actually do anything). Emma chose different rout and found old pictures.

Only after going through photos and comparing old and new ones, she realised that 5 years ago she was size S and now she is more than size L!

“How come!!!!” asked me Emma. And I didn’t have the answer.

The biggest shock was that during these five years no one ever noticed how Emma changed. Because this change was slow and very common for every one. We are becoming independent- means we have a car, we are starting a job, after that we are too tired to cook- means take away food or microwave one; when we are back home after long 8 hours job- means relax in front of TV. Very slowly our body and mind becoming more chubby, more lazy and less motivating. And it’s hard to catch these changes!

Emma realized what is going on and decided to do something about it! She started fitness classes 3 times per week 50 minutes each. “I am so suppressed that fitness or any activity can be so fun and instead of feel more tired I feel more rested, that is so amazing and of course my shorts are fit!!!!” said Emma, after her regular fitness classes.

Active life is more about fun, than you think

Now, Emma is much happier about herself. She is saying, that feel better, more organised and energetic. And she has time and energy to do more things during the day!

“After one month of regular fitness I feel happier and more relax. Even my boyfriend said that I become a better person “said Emma.
