Hello Medium

Okay, I’ll admit it. When Medium first appeared, I was like… so what. It’s just WordPress.com/Tumblr/whatever. I have my own self-hosted blog (two of them in fact, one business, one personal). Why would I put my writing anywhere else?

Well, I’m going to. Because over the past month I have got absolutely addicted to Medium. And I can’t even say why. I get headlines delivered to my inbox, one catches my eye, I click on it, start reading… and before I know it my morning has disappeared. I’m reading stuff I would totally skim past on any other platform.

Not to mention that some of my favourite content producers are blogging here daily. And that its founder is my favourite of the Twitter founders (yes, you can have a favourite Twitter founder)— and he blogs on here too, of course.

Facebook wants to be my personalised newspaper. Twitter wanted to generate intelligent conversation. Well, Medium has managed both.

So why the hell should I stay posting on my personal blog, rather than on here? Answer: I shouldn’t, so watch this space :)
