At Friday’s Just For Laughs comedy festival, Trevor Noah and Jim Carrey shared a special moment. Noah was hosting the event and gave a heartfelt speech before Carrey accepted his award of Comedy Person of the Year. “Winning is getting to the end without committing suicide, and Jim Carrey was one of the first comedians that described the beast that many of us face in this room and that’s depression.”

Carrey spoke about his depression in a 2004 CBS interview and said he was taking Prozac for a long time. Noah opened up own struggles last year during a ‘Daily Show’ interview with Neal Brennan. I thank [Carey] because, you know, I found a way to fight it. I found a way to build a community and that’s what this place is, it’s a community of people trying to do something.”
