Sharone Houri Your insightful post describes the purpose of Socially Driven Music. We recognized that it’s possible to harness the powerful, visceral reaction to music for the greater social good. SDM is designed as a catalyst for grassroots activism on a hyper-local basis. It connects music artists and songwriters with social causes while aggregating and uniting the fan bases and supporters of each around the issues of their shared passions (e.g., health, anti-discrimination, environment, anti-bullying, suicide prevention, homelessness, hunger, etc.). The imminent mid-term elections and the myriad issues it encompasses is a current example of how music fans and causes can come together on a local level to effect change.
