Good job Bill. Way to actually fucking write something. This is not so secretly what your best at. Do more. Also, where is the fucking mail bag. Get on your game.
Anyway, I love the conspiracy theory about Nike wanting him to move. I have always wondered if teams and players find ways to circumvent the salary cap via endorsements. Or, if in a less conspiracy minded way, if large markets really do offer enough in the endorsement markets to offset the losses of resigning with the team with bird rights.
If teams arent taking advantage of this why the hell not? I mean the owners of the Knicks, Clippers, Lakers, etc. Should (not according to the CBA, but who cares) be able to say during their pitches. Your going to make an extra 20 million in endorsements here, because you’ll matter. It would be a great way for stars to actually get paid what they are worth to a franchise.
I mean look at Kobe, his last 2 years were essentially an endorsement for the Lakers brand, that helped keep the ratings up for the Lakers TV deal. Sure, it sucked competitively, but from the Lakers perspective it was sound business. It seems like a smart owner should be able to leverage these things more.
