An Integrated Sustainable Socio-Economic Model: Step by Step Implementation

Episode Two — Intermezzo I — Systemic Renaissance

Before continuing with the real world model and attempted implementation of perhaps the first truly sustainable region in the world, a quick aside:

As mentioned in SOLBLOG I, we are interested in a “systemic change” approach to impact. This is more challenging than a standard business model approach. It is one thing to draw up a sustainable business model outlined in a PowerPoint presentation and quite another to envision a scalable, sustainable integrated socio-economic model, find a region where it might be possible, revise the model according to the gifts and insights the citizens of that region have to offer, and affect the formal and philosophical policy linkages necessary to lay the groundwork for implementation.

Before Leaders and Financiers can “be,” at a sustainable integrated socio-economic level, Leaders must first come to be with the stakeholders and constituents of the region in which they are attempting to “systematically change.“

This is the most difficult step.

This necessitates an integral presupposition of respecting the culture and manners of the region. Actually, a deeper action is required: a valuation of the “cultural actions” under consideration.

What does this mean? “Systemic change” in our model might be described as “systemic renaissance.” To fully engage our collaborators we have worked under the assumption that they are not consumers and we have a product to help them. We have not worked under the assumption that we somehow know better than they on any level whatsoever. On the other hand, we have come to them as students and asked them if they are willing to teach us.
