Are you truly charismatic?
by John Ford M — charismatic adventurer and intellectual lateral thinker
There is a wonderful story about Marilyn Monroe demonstrating charisma when she took a photographer into Grand Central Station in New York on a busy day. She rode with the photographer all the way to the next station without any attention coming her way, without anyone recognizing her. Marilyn wanted to show that just by deciding to, she could either be glamorous Marilyn or plain Norma Jean.
On the subway, she was Norma Jean Mortenson (her real name), but when she resurfaced on to the busy New York sidewalk, she turned into Marilyn Monroe. The photographer witnessed her suddenly became magnetic and an aura of magic seemed to ripple out from her.
The question is — was Marilyn acting or was she truly charismatic?

What is charismatic?
Charismatic people are the world’s sparkle people, those who simply light up our world. Charismatics love ideas and variety in life, they love interesting, engaging conversations and can be quite chatty.
Charismatics genuinely feel that life is all about them and they need an environment that allows them to shine, but they also require boundaries that help them not to overpower others.
Charismatics are deeply affected by the energy around them — they have incredible outgoing sensing and perception. Just like a bat, they are able to interpret the returning echoes from life. They respond to people, places and experiences by how they sense the world is responding to them. Charismatics use others as a mirror for themselves and have this innate sense of how people are reacting to them.
As beacons of light and full of sparkle, charismatics certainly bring light to others, but they can just as quickly turn off their light and create darkness. You may never know what happened — one minute you were laughing and feeling good together, the next the world is heavy and dark. Charismatics can switch off their light instantaneously.
I am sure, when people say that charisma can be learned, they are right but those people who have got it…have just got it. Let’s look at who out there is generally recognized as charismatic and see if they were truly charismatic.
Marilyn was truly charismatic. Her SolePath was charismatic influencer and intuitive builder and like a classic charismatic she could turn her light on or turn her light off at will.

Adolph Hitler was able to persuade a nation to engage in activities that will haunt subsequent generations forever and Adolph was truly charismatic. His SolePath was intellectual expert and charismatic influencer and does the charismatic influencer have influence! The charismatic influencer is amazing at encouraging collaboration and understands how to get people to work with them to achieve their intentions (whether their intentions are honourable or not).

John F Kennedy at age 43, was the youngest man to have been elected to the office of President of the United States and JFK was truly charismatic with a double charismatic SolePath, charismatic influencer and charismatic adventurer. To date, Kennedy has been the only Roman Catholic president and the only president to have won a Pulitzer Prize for his biography ‘Profiles in Courage’.

Michael Jackson was also truly charismatic with a double charismatic SolePath like JFK. However Michael’s charisma was both his light and his dark. In his light Michael was a charismatic gladiator always striving to be better than the best. In his dark he was a dark charismatic adventurer, a reckless risk taker.
There have been many people described as charismatic because of the incredible influence they have had in their life times, but were they truly charismatic?

Martin Luther King was described as an American Baptist minister, activist, humanitarian, and leader in the African-American Civil Rights Movement. I think that his leadership and rousing speeches led people to describe him as charismatic, but in fact he was an inspirational humanitarian and compassionate facilitator. It is this SolePath that drove him to be the activist and the inspiration for so many.

Che Guevara was also described as charismatic, but his SolePath was spiritual warrior and like Martin Luther king a compassionate facilitator. You can see that the compassionate side of both men led their activism and in Che’s case his spiritual warrior was the driving force behind his cause.

Mahatma Ghandi led India to independence and inspired movements for civil rights and freedom across the world but he was not truly charismatic. Ghandi’s SolePath was inspirational humanitarian and compassionate caretaker, very similar to Martin Luther King, and for both men inspiration and compassion were their gifts.
There have also been people who very few would have described as charismatic but in fact were truly charismatic.

Margaret Thatcher was known as the ‘Iron Lady’ a nickname associated with her uncompromising politics and leadership style and not with her charisma. However Margaret Thatcher was truly charismatic. In fact she was a double charismatic like Michael Jackson and like Michael her charisma was both light and dark. Baroness Thatcher was a charismatic influencer the same as Adolph Hitler and a dark charismatic adventurer with the same reckless risk taker characteristics as Michael Jackson.

“Smokin’ Joe” Frazier, professional boxer, was known for his sheer strength, durability, punch power and all-out relentless attack but not for being charismatic. But Joe Frazier was truly charismatic. His SolePath was charismatic gladiator and compassionate caretaker. The charismatic gladiator led him to be better than the best and he became the undisputed heavy weight champion of the world.

Like Joe Frazier, Heath Ledger was not high on the list of charismatic celebrities but Heath was also truly charismatic. And like Joe Frazier, Heath was a charismatic gladiator (and compassionate facilitator), which was his motivation to be the best but was also the cause of his inability to happy with his work.
