A lone man in grey jeans and black top, with what looked to be a sword held in his hand, stared at a far-away mountain. Directly ahead of him were as yet unaware people, dotted here and there along the winding path through the snow. The stars in the sky were impossibly vivid. Physical lines connected the constellations and a thin layer of thousands of perfectly shaped infinitesimal cubes hovered around them, like they’d been jet-sprayed onto a dome with a holographic, glossy effect.

The man aimed the sword at the nearest person, a soldier of some nameless war, their head covered in beige bandages, the full-body armour done up in feudal Japan style, but modern. A click discharged a plastic bullet from the man’s sword, soaring through the night air until it made the soldier’s neck its new home, a gush of red pixelized blood spurting out. Knees buckling, the soldier fell over, dead.

Still unaware, the other soldiers mumbled idiosyncrasies to themselves.

Hopping into the snow path, the solivagant made his way to the fresh corpse and searched for any useful items, but there was nothing. Same as before.

The next soldier glanced in the man’s direction. He took his hand to his eyes, shining between the same type of bandages. In his body language it almost seemed like he spotted the lone man.

But no. Already deep in the snowy grass, the lone man crawled closer to the still unaware soldier, the firearm-sword attached to his back. It would take just a few more meters before he could bury that blade deep in his target’s neck.
