NEW MUSIC: Dim Out — Light Travel

Out May 19th

Dim Out, aka Christopher Cook, is a cyryptofunk Swedish/Canadian producer-singer-rapper-ninja. This week, he released Light Travel a new single from his upcoming album, reminding us of his force behind some of Sweden’s most exciting new music. A magnetic performer anchored in humor, Dim Out’s distinctive silky voice and hazy tone puts his singing-rapping style on point. His sound is an alchemy of disjointed old school hip-hop beats, soul, funk, to cinematic psychedelics.

“If we created a list of the artists all Swedes should know, Dim Out would be at no.1” — Scandinavian Soul

Out now, “Light Travel”, is a new single from his upcoming album, reminding us of the feeling of spring love. His “happy song”, is illuminated with lush strings, vintage rhodes keys, and his sweet free vocal. Paired with a release show at Södra Teatern, lucky Stockholmers can hear his full band featuring special supports Ängie, and rapper Chapee.

Past singles include Taekwondo on Sony Sweden, Hurricane feat. Kristin Amparo on Noisey/Vice, Förort, Standards on Spotify’s Svensk Soul playlist.

Best described as “the new way of Swedish soul” by Mats Nileskär (P3 Soul) and Timbuktu, Dim Out’s gradual growth is soon to become one of those household name for lovers of Anderson Paak, Childish Gambino, Nick Hakim, to Little Dragon. And if you like them, then Dim Out is for you…

“I guess you could say that my up tempo music is both hiphop/breaks and psychedelic. The slow music is something undetectable, movie-like or pure Canadian folk music (heritage from my dad)” — Dim Out
