Lisa, I’m sorry for rehashing the past and leaving you depressed. It pisses me off and gets me down, too.
But too many Americans don’t know, or don’t want to know, what really happened. I think Obama has been a great president, but there is one thing I wish he’d done differently: When he entered office, he announced there would be no investigations into the legality of the Bush administration’s decisions to use faked intelligence to justify the Iraq invasion, to torture prisoners, etc. I think this was a mistake: the nation needs to know and acknowledge publicly the poor decisions that were made following the 9–11 terror attacks. We need a public document that itemizes the cost to the nation.
Instead we have the self-congratulatory memoirs of Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld. Even McNamara publicly admitted his Vietnam folly. That will never happen with the three thugs who engineered the Iraq War.
