Yes, in 2003, the Supreme Court finally struck down Texas’ sodomy law. This is the embarrassing state where I live. The place where the Legislature shut down women’s health clinics all across the state for three years, forcing Texas women to drive hundreds of miles, sometimes to another state, to get an abortion. This despite the fact that abortions are perfectly legal — everywhere but here, apparently. The Supreme Court recently struck down that Texas law, too, but the Texas nazis had a three-year head start in shutting down clinics and wreaking as much havoc as possible. It will take years to undo all the damage done. I wish the lawmakers were forced to foot the bill for the damage they do when adopting clearly unconstitutional laws. In Texas they’re running a government-funded war on women, children and anyone who values health care or education. We wouldn’t want poor folks receiving adequate health care or education. They might start thriving, making it even harder to keep them down.
